IPMA announces its first event: Winning in IP Rankings and Awards

IPMA will hold its first event on Tuesday, 1 September 2026. The free online event, ‘Winning in IP Rankings and Awards‘, will be hosted live on Microsoft Teams at 10:00 EDT / 15:00 BST / 16:00 CEST.

Why we are starting here.

Law firm marketing and BD professionals spend a lot of their time each year preparing for and managing legal rankings and awards. Submissions are long, the criteria are rarely explicit, referees are hard to secure, and some find it difficult to measure the ROI.

Experienced professionals also need support and continuous learning each year as publishers often change processes or requirements. This is why we chose rankings and awards as the topic for our first event: it is a shared problem where practical experience travels well between firms, and where a candid conversation is worth more than any published guide.

Who it is for.

This event is for marketing, business development and communications professionals working in intellectual property, whether you work for an IP firm, a general law firm with an IP practice or a service provider or company. IP practitioners who carry marketing responsibility themselves are equally welcome.

How the session runs.

The discussion is held under the Chatham House Rule. Participants are free to use what they hear, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of any speaker may be revealed. We ask members not to share commercially sensitive information. It is what makes an honest conversation possible between people who compete for the same recognition.
